520 N Lamar – Fiddler's Folly [OTM]

per the Oxford CVB site:

In 1875, prominent attorney Charles Howry commissioned James Stewart to design this elegant Italianate house using pre-cut materials shipped by boat and assembled on site.

  1. What a great old house. It is a shame that architects seem incapable of designing houses like this today

  2. Note: This house was one of the houses in Oxford featured prominently in the movie “Home From the Hill” (1960). In the movie, George Peppard’s character Raef and his bride lived in this house, I believe.

    • This is a true fact. I lived in this house when the filming was done. Dr. & Mrs. W.A. Spearman were the owners at that time. They had 3 daughters,
      Patricia, Barbara, & Debbie
