Ole Miss Ice Hockey? Um, Yeah

It’s a crying shame it’s taken this long for hockey to reach Ole Miss.. but it’s here – amazingly.

Officially sanctioned by the University a few months back, the IceRebels plan to compete in the Western SEC conference of the American Collegiate Hockey Association along with every other SEC school (except Auburn)..

Here are some quick team notes:

Head Coach: Max Graupner
Team President: Cody Johnson
Home Games: played at Desoto Civic Center in Southaven
First Game: 10/02/2009 – vs. Middle Tennessee State University in Nashville
First Home Game: 10/23/09 vs. Mississippi State

Word is, fan gear will be sold in the Grove this fall during home football games, and will include t-shirts, jerseys & pucks.

Also, for the daring, additional open tryouts for the team will be held in the fall. Anyone interested should contact ccjohns2(at)olemiss.edu
