The Gallery at Marimekko

I spent Friday evening at a Gallery Opening at marimekko, a great shop just south of the Square on Lamar, enjoying great art with a number of locals (good to see everyone out while the students are summering). Marimekko has an Opening about twice a month, and generally features local and regional artists. If you haven’t taken the time to stop in, you should do so – while you’re there put your name on their email list and you’ll get announcements for each Gallery Opening.

The current show features the works of James Price (pictured here) and Chris Sneed, and runs from May 15th – June 4th. James is a local painter who graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2004 and currently lives in Taylor. He paints houses to pay the bills, but is passionate about his art – he participates in about two gallery shows each year. James is originally from Fulton, Mississippi.

Chris is a potter who graduated from the University of Mississippi earlier this month – he is planning to attend gradute school in the near future. To Chris, art is a “way of life.” Chris is originally from Hurricane, MS.
