Ole Miss
It’s mandatory to have a section on Ole Miss here on OxfordMississippi.com due to the fact that this institution has been a staple in Oxford, Mississippi since it was chartered in 1844 and had 80 students enrolled in its first year, 1848. Most people don’t realize that for 110 years, Ole Miss was Mississippi’s only comprehensive university. In 1854, Ole Miss was one of the first colleges in the nation to start an engineering school. Ole Miss has since grown from an 80 student enrollment to an 18,000 student enrollment and shows no signs of letting up.
With a student to faculty ratio of 18 to 1, Ole Miss continues to provide excellent education and the attention that a student needs to survive.
As most people know, and if you don’t, you are about to, Ole Miss is one of the biggest party schools in the nation. When you come to Oxford for the first time, you will notice the beauty of the town. As the day winds down and the sun sets, you may find yourself having a delicious dinner at any of top named restaurants in Oxford and then making your way to the Oxford MS Town Square. This small block has a dense population of intriguing bars and restaurants where there is sure to be something that fits and resonates with your personality.

The sports program has had some amazing players come out of Ole Miss. In football, Archie and Eli Manning played here along with Patrick Willis of the San Francisco 49′ers.
The late William Faulkner and Shepard Smith are both two notable names that have gone on to accomplish enourmous feats in their careers, both of which graduated from Ole Miss.
